I participate in the initiatieve 'Pakje Kunst Maastricht'. Artists from Zuid-Limburg have made beautiful pieces to be sold in really old cigarette vending machines so that you can get your own unique art piece(s) for 4 euros. Instead of buying a pack of cigarettes, you’ll be purchasing a unique work of art from a local artist. It is to promote artists from my region and support them as well. The vending machine in Maastricht can be found at ‘De brandweerkantine’ which is a really cute restaurant , the address of the restaurant is Capucijnenstraat 21.
The website of Pakje Kunst is www.pakjekunst.com

BLAME AUTHORITY is an online community and magazine for underground art, music, and culture. Founded in 2017 it is a platform for like-minded individuals to showcase their work and discover other new and inspiring artists. A lot of creatives express themselves in more than one medium and on BLAME AUTHORITY everything, from acrylic paintings and film photography to fashion editorials and music videos, everything has it’s place. I worked on the very first 'Poetry Thursday' on BLAME AUTHORITY , it is a segment where new emerging artists get the chance to introduce themselves through their art.
Retrograde is an upcoming print magazine based in New York. Retrograde is an online and quarterly print fashion and music collective focused on those who are passionately divergent and beautifully chaotic in their style and personality. In general I would say that they are focused on exploring new creative souls. I participated in the very first Retrograde print issue.
Check out their social media for more info about the staff & the magazine.
Unfortunately the website & their instagram page are currently under construction.

No cigarettes, but a box full of art from a vending machine. What and from who? That is the surprise, maybe you'll even get a art piece from me!
Old mechanical cigarette vending machines are used as cultural heritage and contain works of art the size of a cigarette box by both regional and international artists. For € 4, - you draw a random box containing a work of art and an attachment with information about the artist in question. Each vending machine is full of mini-works from various artists who bring their work closer to the people through this route. The miniatures represent the work that the artist normally makes. You pull a box out of curiosity, as a gift for a friend, as something extra with a bunch of flowers or a bottle of wine, as a collector's item, as an art lover! In November the machine will be opened at HuB. the library of Kerkrade.
The address is Martin Buberplein 15.
BNNVARA is a broadcasting company focused on social issues that mainly appeal to young people. They also have weekly columns with, among others, musicians & artists. I was lucky enough to score a cool interview for the 'InstaMuseum' column. Instagram is the ultimate new tool to give artists a platform and the column 'InstaMuseum' talks to artists who found their succes through Instagram. Unfortunately, the interview is written in Dutch, but you can always translate it off course!
"From holiday snaps to lunch photos - on Instagram you can get rid of it,Insta is the place to release your inner creative, but of course there are also hidden gems between the stream of amateur photographers and hobbyists .. In the InstaMuseum we talk with the artists behind the coolest Instagram pages our country is rich, how do these creatives distinguish themselves from the rest and what inspires them? In the InstaMuseum you find out. "

I got the chance to paint a trash can in the 'Oranje Naussaustraat in heerlen.
The initiative comes from a foundation "Heerlen mijn stad" that wants to make heerlen a lot more beautiful by having local artists paint trash cans.
Throughout the whole city you'll find these painted trash cans so If u ever visit the centre of Heerlen it is worth looking for these bins! All artists that participated sticked by their own visual style and each bin is totally different.
Carbon6 is a successful redevelopment in the center of Heerlen, in Parkstad Limburg. Since the closure of the coal mines, Limburg was faced with a major challenge. Unemployment and impoverishment were imminent. The Central Bureau for Statistics was established in Heerlen, but the economic impulse of this large employer has also come to an end. The immense CBS building was vacant. Carbon6 is a home for new economy, incubation of initiatives and ideas. Start-ups and accelerators can perfectly develop their business models here. A dynamic mix of more than 130 companies and creative forces make Carbon6 an economic engine. The largest pop school in the region, an artistic cluster and social programming fit in perfectly with that. The creative part of Carbon6 is called XCBS annually they organize an art market. The art market offers all sorts of activities such as to take a look at the artists' studios and a variety of workshops and live music in which you can participate! You can also participate in the art market as exhibitor and I was one of the participants in this.
Exhibition Utopia by
de positieve stad.
Together with 15 artists [aged 18-30] we work in a great studio in Heerlen together with a coach and masters on creative skills and we work towards an exclusive group exhibition. Photo; video; design, dance; Paint; street art; artists all disciplines participate! Collaborations that lead to even crazier ideas are encouraged. The artists will create creative concepts, interventions and art with the following starting point: Make a positive contribution to the environment and inspire others with that positivity.
Utopia is coached by Toon Hezemans, a professional who has earned his spurs in the creative field. In addition, master classes are given by renowned masters: Theo Ploeg; Arjan Winterink and Laurent Malherbe.
The exclusive group show that we organize takes place four times for a select audience. 4 artistic interventions take place in advance in the center of Heerlen, accessible to everyone. The project was founded by the Positive City Foundation and they want to exert a positive influence on people's living environment through all sorts of projects.
The 4 exclusive group shows take place on June 21, 22, 28 and 29 in the evenings.
